about robin

Robin Surber lives and makes mixed media art in a rural, South Knoxville holler. When not in her studio, she can be found in the garden growing heirloom tomatoes and cucumbers, (she makes “much loved“ bread and butter pickles), or watching the fireflies rise in the field next to her studio.

from the studio

Mixed media is a broad term. Robin uses paint, colored pencils, handmade paper, vintage postcards, repurposed tin and collected antique relics to tell her story about home and place. Paper becomes paint and paint blends into metal , creating a cohesive image that is quiet and uplifting.
